The Olympus OM-4 Ti is a professional, compact 35mm SLR featuring a ruggedized titanium body and a legendary multi-spot metering system. It is a 35mm manual focus single-lens reflex (SLR) camera that was the flagship camera of the Olympus OM system. Released in 1986, it is an improved version of the earlier OM-4, known for its advanced metering system and durable build.

Compact Form Factor: The OM-4 Ti maintains the compact and ergonomic design of the rest of the Olympus OM-series, a system celebrated for its smaller size compared to professional SLRs from other brands of the era. Viewfinder: The viewfinder is large and bright, offering a 97% field of view. The information display is at the bottom of the frame, so it does not interfere with composition.

• Key Features & Design: Titanium Construction: The "Ti" in the name stands for titanium. The camera features titanium top and bottom plates, making it both strong and lightweight (510g body alone). This improved on the OM-4's aluminum alloy chassis and also added some weather sealing. The black-painted version is known for the paint chipping easily, revealing the titanium underneath, which some find gives it an appealing "brassy" look.
• Advanced Metering System: This is arguably the OM-4 Ti's most famous feature.
• Multi-Spot Metering: It was the first camera to have a built-in multi-spot meter that could take and average up to eight separate spot readings (a 2% area of the viewfinder).
• Highlight & Shadow Control: It includes dedicated "Highlight" and "Shadow" buttons that allow the photographer to take a spot reading of a white or black area of a scene and automatically adjust the exposure to render it as pure white or black. This makes it an excellent camera for photographers who use the Zone System.
• Viewfinder Display: The metering information is displayed on a linear LCD at the bottom of the bright, uncluttered viewfinder.
• Shutter: The camera has an electronically controlled horizontal cloth focal plane shutter with a speed range from 1 second to 1/2000 second, plus a Bulb mode. It also has a mechanical backup speed of 1/60 second that works without batteries.
• Aperture-Priority and Manual Modes: The OM-4 Ti offers both aperture-priority automatic exposure and full manual exposure control. In aperture-priority mode, the camera uses a TTL (Through-The-Lens) direct "off-the-film" light measuring system.
• Flash System: It was the first 35mm focal plane camera to support flash synchronization at all shutter speeds (up to 1/2000s) when used with the special Olympus F280 flash unit. This is achieved by the flash pulsing light continuously for the duration of the shutter's travel across the film plane.

Condition Report 

Overall Condition Very Good (Vg). Some slight but attractive patina to the edges, and one or two marks to the paint near the hotshoe. All functions work, shutter speeds are correct and the meter is accurate. Serial #1177471
