The Olympus G.Zuiko 40mm f/1.4 is the undisputed crown jewel of standard primes for Yoshihisa Maitani’s half-frame Pen F SLR system. Delivering a natural, standard field of view (equivalent to roughly 58mm on a full-frame camera), this lens pairs an ultra-bright f/1.4 maximum aperture with astonishingly compact 1960s Japanese engineering.

When shot wide open, it produces a distinctive, creamy bokeh with subtle vintage character that renders portraits and close-up detail work with incredible soul. Stopped down slightly to f/2.8 or f/4, the 6-element optical design sharpens up dramatically, delivering biting contrast and crisp detail across the frame.

Notes:  This lens is from the early 1970s and it has a tiny element of grease on one aperture blade. Focusing is smooth and the barrel is in excellent condition. The optics are nice and clean without any fungus. Serial Number #144808 Comes with Pen F Gothic Front and Rear Olympus Caps plus the original lens case.
